Originally called "21," casinos in Las Vegas at one time offered a special payout of 10-to-1 odds on the Ace of Spades with either of the black jacks in the deck - a hand called "Blackjack." These special payouts no longer exist, but the name stuck, and blackjack is still one of the world's most popular card games.
